Entry Title - Blog Anatomy

Monday, February 25th, 2008

The title above is a summary of the entry. The title is what is seen first by viewers on the site, in search engine results and RSS feeds.

An entry consists of a Title, Post, Comments and Links.

Post - this is where the text, photos, audio and video show up in the entry.

Permalinks provide the permanent location of the entry.

Linkback links provide a way for authors to know who else is linking to their entries.

Usually one of the left or right columns is used for organizing the blog.

Organizational tools include:

Categories - to help readers easily find topics they are interested in and authors to easily organize their entries.

RSS Feed - Typically an icon or words that link to the RSS Feed of the blog.

Blogroll - List of other sites the author likes.

Tag cloud - Visual representation of the popularity of tags in the blog. The larger a word shows up in a tag cloud the more it is used in the blog.

i.e. a blog about education would likely have education be the largest word in the cloud where the word Atlanta would appear few times and therefore be smaller in the cloud.
